Open vs Residential
Open proxies (publicly advertised HTTP/SOCKS endpoints) are the easy case. Residential proxies — IPs sold as “real users” — are where the dataset earns its keep.
Hosting + Anycast
Beyond proxies, we surface hosting and anycast flags. Use them to bucket datacenter traffic separately from real consumer eyeballs.
Confidence Signals
When available, the response includes a confidence level (1-3) and the share of recent days the IP behaved like a proxy.
FAQ
- How do you decide an IP is a residential proxy?
- We combine direct proxy-config captures, census scan results, passive device-activity evidence and WHOIS corroboration. No single signal is enough on its own.
- Can I batch a list of IPs?
- Yes — sign up and use the REST API. The `/v1/batch` endpoint accepts up to 100 IPs per call.
- What about CGNAT and mobile carriers?
- They’re flagged separately under `isMobile` / `isCarrier`. Don’t treat them as proxies — they’re real users behind shared carrier-grade NAT.
